For Patients
Today’s treatments for cancer and other serious diseases are highly effective and have allowed more patients to survive their disease and go on to live full and productive lives. However, some of these same lifesaving treatments may also affect your ability to have children in the future. But, there are steps you can take BEFORE your treatment begins in order to preserve your fertility later on. Fertility preservation options are different for every patient, depending on how long you are able to safely delay the start of treatment, your age, your gender and whether you have a partner or access to donor sperm. Even if you have already undergone treatment, there still may be some options for preserving your fertility.
